Two Canoeists To Paddle 110 Mile-Long Sauk River
ST. CLOUD – Two men are gearing up to canoe the 110 mile length of the Sauk River.
Todd Foster of St. Cloud and Scott Miller of Minneapolis will begin to canoe Sunday from where the river starts at Lake Osakis all the way to St. Cloud, where it empties into the Mississippi.
The trip will take 8 days, and each evening, Miller and Foster will host ‘meet and greets’ in towns along the river. They’ll also be blogging along the way.
The trip is organized in part because of the 25th Anniversary of the Sauk River Watershed District, an organization that advocates for the benefits and opportunities of the Sauk River.
Miller says canoeing on a river is a much different experience than paddling on a lake because you see such a wide range of landscapes.
Foster says he and Miller have been canoeing partners for 16 years, and have even made the 2,000 mile trek from St. Cloud to the Hudson Bay.
And, WJON videojournalist Abby Faulkner will join the pair for a day of their trip next week, so stay tuned.
